Held annually on 12th August, International Youth Day is celebrated across 18 countries. The day aims to acknowledge the part played by youths globally in improving the societies and world around them. It also sheds light on their protection and involvement in community development.

This year’s theme is ‘Transforming Food Systems: Youth Innovation for Human and Planetary Health’. The aim is to highlight the importance of young people’s involvement in innovations contributing to planetary and human health.

At JB Springs, our Director Alex and Sales Director David are both STEM Ambassadors. They immensely appreciate having the opportunity to use this platform to share Springtelligence knowledge with engineers of the future.

Last year, David hosted a webinar as part of Fantastic Futures. This was a live webinar workshop event, in which STEM Ambassadors gave talks to school students about the work they did and how they use STEM. In his talk, David educated students about all things springs and what to do if asked to make something impossible!

We developed Springtelligence – a range of learning resources, such as blogs and videos – to assist in the understanding of spring design and technology across industries. We designed these resources using our 125+ years of manufacturing expertise. Pre-Covid, we visited local schools presenting Springtelligence talks and sessions, and hosting schools at our purpose-built factory in Skipton. We explained exactly how we make our springs and encouraged the students to consider engineering as a career path.
