JB Springs is delighted to announce we are sponsoring the Gargrave Warriors who will take part in the Total Warrior Great Northern Mud Run as they bid to raise £20,000 to invest in technology equipment to enhance learning for pupils at Gargrave Primary School. The challenge on June 22nd will see Gargrave Warriors, made up of staff, parents and friends, take on 25 gruelling obstacles over 12km, which include the "Human BBQ", "The Plunge" and "The Shocker" to name a few! As [...]
JB Springs have recently moved into the neighbouring unit which has added an extra 5,500 sq ft of manufacturing space to our Skipton site. The facilities increase the production capacity of JB Springs as we continue to employ a lean manufacturing ethos.
JB Springs have recently taken an order to produce a spring to replicate one used by Marilyn Manson during his ‘Guns, God and Government’ tour in 2001. The spring was used by the band’s keyboard player ‘Pogo’ to swing a keyboard from – this can be seen throughout the video of the L.A. performance below but up close at roughly 47 minutes 14 seconds. Our spring will be used by a Marilyn Manson tribute act from Bradford. Warning: Video [...]
Recently JB Springs helped design some springs to assist Skipton Girls’ High School 4x4 team in their preparation for their appearance at the National Final of the Land Rover 4x4 in Schools Competition. The competition involved the team working together to design and build a radio-controlled four-wheel drive vehicle, to set specifications. The vehicle then had to successfully negotiate a specifically designed test track emulating real life and perform as a full-scale 4x4 vehicle would do in an off-road [...]
The initial tension is released, when a tension spring is extended to a certain point, where gaps appear between the coils.
The rate is the strength of a spring as defined by Hooke's law. Hooke's Law states that the force needed to extend a spring is directly proportional to the distance you stretch it. Hooke's Law can be represented as F = ks. 'F' is the spring's restoring force 'k' is the spring constant 's' is the deflection (extension)
Counting coils on a tension spring is the same as counting coils on a compression spring. The type of ends on a spring will make no difference to the number of coils.
How spring loads work within a tension spring. If too much weight is applied to the spring it will no longer contract, therefore breaking the spring.
