JB Springs is now a certified member of ‘Made in Britain’, a growing community of British manufacturers from all around the UK, dedicated to the very highest standards of UK manufacturing. The Made in Britain mark is accredited to businesses that sell goods that have been manufactured in Britain before sale. Over our 120 year history as a British spring manufacturer, we have established an enviable reputation for quality in the manufacture of safety-critical parts and know the importance [...]
Earlier this month JB Springs attended a careers fair at South Craven School. We spoke with many students about pursuing a career in engineering and the apprenticeships we offer. Our aim at JB Springs is to take on 2 or 3 new apprentices each year, some of whom have come from South Craven School previously, so this was a great opportunity to engage current students about careers in engineering and what JB Springs can offer as an employer. Photo [...]
JB Springs apprentices and employees who fail to solve a series of spring based problems may find themselves spending more time at work than they planned. As part of our Springtelligence training and education programme, we have created an escape room which will be used as a hands-on form of assessment for the Level 1 Springtelligence course we run internally. The escape room is inside the original office from the John Binns & Son Factory at Fleece Street, Keighley. [...]
Our MD Alex Driver has recently signed up to become a STEM Ambassador; he is the first of many John Binns’ employees that we hope will be signing up to become ambassadors. This means he is now part of a community of 30,000 ambassadors across the UK. STEM refers to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics subjects. STEM Ambassadors are volunteers from the age of 17 that represent a vast range of STEM-related jobs and disciplines across the UK. They [...]
Thank you to our colleagues who made our first "The Great JB Springs Bake Off" a huge succes! The winner of our first edition is Jane Kisby. Jane made us a delicious "Chocolate Yogurt Cake", congratulations!
We bought some pies in from a local Skipton butcher, Drake & Macefield, to celebrate ‘National Pie Week’. Who doesn’t love a good pie? Yum, yum, yum! :)
John Binns managing director, Alex Driver, recently went back to school. He visited Gargrave primary school to teach them all about the wonders of springs. Judging by the thank you card, we think he found his new calling.
We get involved with all kinds of unusual work. We recently powder coated a light bulb sculpture made by a local sculptor, Craig Dyson. Craig has had work sold at Sotheby’s and also works locally in education projects.
Here is another video showing a successful project we carried out using our 3D production series printer. We are always happy to help with prototype development using our technical knowledge on springs. The 3D production series printer enables us to produce fully functional prototypes to help with these projects.
Happy Easter to all our customers and suppliers. We are looking forward to fighting over who gets the biggest egg and the springy eggcups.
