This month’s equipment spotlight section is focussing on our WAFIOS Aktiengesellschaft BM6 robotic machine. Operating with a Keyence camera, the state-of-the-art machine checks and stacks 10mm mild steel wireform at our purpose-built premises. The robot has been affectionately christened ‘Kevin’ and has cemented his place in the JB Springs team – being used more and more within our manufacturing processes. In these testing times, the team on the shop floor at JB Springs can be proud of contributing to the fight against Coronavirus. Over the last eight weeks we have been manufacturing springs for ventilators, hospital beds, and our 3D printer has been producing components for PPE visors.These springs for ventilators were manufactured and dispatched within 24 hours of the order being received.
JB Springs is putting its 3D printing technology to good use during these difficult times by producing the face shields to help local frontline workers to stay safe.
At JB Springs we are constantly improving our manufacturing efficiency and accuracy.This is a perfect example of how technology is helping us to achieve this. In the video above, 12mm pre-galvanised wire-forms, produced on a WAFIOS BM6, are being checked by a Keyence high-speed quality inspection camera, and then picked and packed by our RARUK Automation Robot arm (affectionately known as Kevin).
