Andy joined our sales and customer service department last year and has been an excellent addition to our team. His knowledge and experience of engineering and manufacturing principles will improve the service that we can offer to our customers.
Looking Forward to the Future
During 2015, we will be increasing our core manufacturing range thanks to the arrival of new machinery and, to accommodate this, we will be expanding our factory. A large proportion of this improvement will focus on production in the larger wire diameters up to 20mm. Further details to follow.

3D prototyping
John Binns has recently completed a 3D printing project for an aerospace company that has resulted in a new and unique spring design. The project involved a small torsion spring that was to fit in a restricted slot. The original spring would not work within the space available. North East Manufex Exhibition
On Wednesday 19th November John Binns exhibited at the Manufex exhibition in Newcastle. The show was a great success with many people visiting us to see what we had to offer. John Binns even became somewhat of a ‘must see’ at the exhibition as our giant spring amazed punters young and old. John Binns would like to thank everyone who came to see us and made it a great event.
Dave Heigold 30 years at John Binns
Congratulations to Dave Heigold who has passed 30 years here at John Binns. We are very proud and grateful to have such experienced employees such as Dave and Ian within our company. Dave has undertaken many roles and now works in our powder coating shop and has developed a great level of skill in providing fantastic quality on alloy wheel refurbishments as well as other powder coated finishes.

He has witnessed first hand the developments in the machinery used at John Binns. His expertise and experience combined with the very latest technologies mean that John Binns can offer an unrivalled level of quality in the grinding of springs.
The Show Must Go On
John Binns regularly gets asked to look at resolving problems for customers. Two recent, one-off projects illustrate this. The first was a request from a theatre set designer for a pair of springs to raise a bed for a show that was days away from premiering on the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. New Recruits
In addition to investing in the very latest production machinery, John Binns is investing in building the skilled workforce required in the modern manufacturing environment. Over the last two months three new apprentices have been taken on. It is hoped that they will develop into expert springmakers and become a valuable part of the John Binns’ team for the years ahead.
